Just bought the 3-1 winch to pull in my boat lift, used it once and would not recommend it for horizontal use over the length of the 25 foot cable., the lift was out 38 ft, so once I had to loosen the winch to remove the added tow strap for the extra length, and then reattach the winch cable, it somehow shedded some of the strands of the winch cable. Because the cable is enclosed you can’t see what’s happening as it is reeled in. If you need a portable winch, get a hand operated one. Way cheaper, and you can see what’s happening!

Bought this and hung it on triple rafters. Hoisted a dinghy, and first time pulling it up, it broke. This is the second one I've bought within a year. Cheap product with fake load ratings.

Extremely loud operation from motor and gears.

The winch is used for lifting heavy items that I can not lift, however, the winch has burned out on the first use of it, I need a replacement for it as soon as possible. No I did not try to pick up anything that was over 1550lbs. All you need to do is send me a new one, my winches are under warranty for 2 years, check it out. Thank you Terry. Mit Einstecken der Seilwinde sind Funken aus dem Gerät geflogen. Die Sicherung ist rausgeflogen und ich musste danach meinen PC neu aufsetzen und meine Heizung zurücksetzen und neu starten. Das Gerät ist eine Gefahr für jeden Haushalt.

I used it for the first time last night. It failed. I was lifting 450 pounds with it and it started smoking and jammed up. I could not get it to raise or lower, when I finally got it to lower the cable had been so jammed up that it was all kinked. When it did start to lower it had been unwinding and the anvil fell to the floor and cracked the concrete. Do not buy this item it cannot lift what it advertises.

The hoist is very handy, however the nut that holds the top hook came undone under laod. It was only sheer luck nobody was injured by the load falling or from the hoist itself crashing down and smashing istelf on the concrete. I'm waiting on a response from Vevor for my request to replace the hoist. Check the top hook nut and look at using something to prevent it coming undone inadvertantly.
